The Kappl-Dias ski region can be reached in winter in just a few minutes on foot. You can, however, also reach the gondola lift in the valley at no extra cost by ski bus. When the snow condition is good you can move down from the ski slope directly up the house.

In just a few minutes by automobile you can also reach the cross-border Silvretta skiing arena of Ischgl from our house with its countless ski slope kilometres. The skiing area of Galtür lies very close to us.

Wooden carvings: How pieces of art arise from fragrant pine.

Overall in our house you will smell the pleasant resinous smell of fragrant pine. Your eye falls on the chests, boxes, house blessing, reliefs, mirror etc. carved by our grandfather  The objects were carpentered and carved according to an old handicrafts tradition.

The surfaces of the wood were decorated with notch- cuttings (three, curved and straight cut) as well as bas-relief type motifs like flowers, leaves, animals or rosettes. The carvings are consistently left untreated and only seldom stained. Beam or ceiling motifs were partially taken from earlier epochs such as from the gothic or the baroque eras and can therefore also be found in diverse folk art museums.

Many pieces of furniture have been made as faithful reproductions of an original (with hand-made pins) and carved, including the Oberinntaler or the Nonsberger chest. This decoration in wood, which can bring joy to our senses and our soul, contains an exciting contrast between effigy and invention, between reality and fantasy. It allows us to enter into a world which appears to have been long forgotten today.

Our works of wood:

Visual art is also very much at home with us.

Engaging with all forms of visual art has already become self-evident for us. The landlord already got involved with art quite early on. He is the art master, art historian and often takes a pencil or a brush in the hand to be a little creative.

Thus you will be confronted in our house with the various artistic techniques (watercolours, oil painting, gouache, pen and ink drawing and pencil drawing etc.). Not everything you will see is high-class art. Much came about through trial and error simply from the joy of being creative to bring the soul into swing.

Some or the pieces of art were collected from known regional artists which increase the quality of the pictures displayed. A motley mixture of the naturalistic, abstract, cubist, impressionistic and expressionistic draws the curiosity of the beholder passing by or leaves one thinking. In this way the small, insignificant, inconspicuous art opens the eye of the beholder, which in no way is just reduced to visual stimuli, but also the heart and intellect are tangible in the art as features of humanity. Art proclaims to the person his right to exist which reveals to him the purpose of life.

“Art is the window through which the person can recognise his higher capability“ (Giovanni Segantini).
